I finally got my new hawk 250 hand brush guards in the mail yesterday and I got the chance to install them today. It was not a quick close your eyes and bolt it install, It did require some thinking to make it fit lol. Each rider might have a different setup with the position of their levers. But even with that I think if you have the patience and willing to put in the work then you can add these in without doing any cutting to the levers or serious fabrication =).
I also had to go to the hardware store to get some longer bolts and get some metal spacers to give me more room between the levers and the new hawk 250 hand brush guards. You will see the metal spacers in the images shown below. The bolt you will need is a M8 1.25, I forgot the length I got but I think it was like 2 1/2 inches. I would get a few different sizes and see what best fits. You should also get some 1in to 1 1/2in metal spacers. You will see in the images below where I used the metal spacers with the longer bolts.

Here is the right side of the new hawk 250 hand brush guards. You can see I have plenty of room but everyones bike will be different depending on how you have your levers setup. I had to move mines in a bit but that is how I prefer it. So you can install these on your bikes, but it will require some trial and error until you get them perfect for your setup.
Here is the left side of the new hawk 250 hand brush guards. You can see I have plenty of room and you can see where I used the metal spacer and the longer M8 1.25 bolt instead of the short one that came with the new hawk 250 hand brush guards.
The bolts that come with this kit will be too short. I sent to Ace Hardware and got some long M8 x 1.25 bolts and I also got some 1inch long M8 spacers to get a nice tight connection. Adding the spacers gives you a lot more room to work with and you shouldn’t need to trim the levers.
For the throttle side you will need to do some cutting. I’m sure there is a different way of doing this but this is how I did it. I found that if you don’t cut out as shown below, then your throttle can get stuck and you don’t want that. When you push in the new hawk 250 hand brush guards in, it will go against the rubber grip. I did some quick trimming and throttle doesn’t get stuck.
I would also recommend wrapping some black tape, in my case all I had was blue painting tape but it did the job =). I found if you don’t add some more layers then it doesn’t really make a snug connection when pushing it into the bars. Adding some tape, fixed this issue when installing the new hawk 250 hand brush guards.
