Hawk 250 – How to Tune Stock Carburetor Video

You will find a video done by MotoCheez on how to tune the stock carburetor. This is a must do on your new hawk 250 rps dirt bike to make sure you are tuned for your location and making sure the jet sizes are working for you. The video below goes over how quickly you can get inside and tune your hawk 250 carburetor

Here are some pictures I took when I tuned the stock carburetor. I didn’t have a Dremel so I used a small hacksaw and was able to get the job done. For my second Hawk 250, I purchased the MIKUNI VM26 Carburetor Hawk 250 RPS and new jets, it was faster to setup since you didn’t have to cut out the screws and cap for the adjustment screw.

Hawk 250 Dual Sport – Replacing Cheap Chain with Quality O Ring Chain Video

This is the new O-Ring chain I got for my Hawk 250 RPS, this chain is 100% better than the stock one that comes with the bike and it’s a quick change. There is no need to cut the chain if you are using the stock sprockets or the ones shown above.

Hawk 250 Dirt Bike Random Images from Ride with Crew

Just sharing some images of the hawks in the wild. We have the black, red and blue power rangers in the street cruising the Catskills.  The Hawks are running great and really good value for the price. We have all changed our sprockets, chain and tuned the carburetors with new jets. I will be posting some images of the stuff we changed and small guides soon.

Hawk 250 – How to Fix Chain Guide and Tire Rubbing Problem Video

This was a great find by MotoCheez on why the Hawk 250 RPS dual sport rear tire would rub against the chain. It seems the chain guide holes are way off from where they should be.  This was a fairly quick tweak to do on my Hawk 250 RPS. I had to do it on 3 other Hawk 250 and it got easier and quicker after the first one.

Took My Hawk 250 to Gotham Mountain MX Trail

I found this Gotham Mountain  MX Trails that are about 15 minutes from my house. I have been waiting for one of my buddies to have a free day off work so we can go and check this out. Its open on the weekends and it was $40 to get in for the day. They have a few different trails you can rip around. They also have a MX track which we didn’t go on.

We actually only spent maybe 45 minutes in there and had to leave because the red Hawk 250 dual sport wasn’t feeling the rough terrain  =). I will need to come back by myself or someone else with more balls to hit these trails and see what the hawk 250 dual sports can do.

We did the same lap 2 times because the first time my phone fell off and we had to go back to find it. I was having a good time and the trails were getting easier but my buddy wasn’t feeling it so we just hit the streets for the rest of the day. I will upload a second video of us riding the hawks in the streets and still having a good time.  This is why I love these hawk 250 dual sport bikes, we can easily switch from off-roading and back to the streets.

Checkout the short video below of our 2 laps on the Gotham Mountain MX trails!

Here are some pictures from the start of the day getting the hawk 250 ready for the trails. We had to do a quick carb jet upgraded on the new red hawk 250, it took about 10 minutes and we were ready to go.

Hawk 250 – How to Change Front and Rear Sprockets

The video below shows MotoCheez changing his front sprocket on his black Hawk 250. You can click here to see my picture guide on how to change the sprockets on your Hawk 250 RPS dirt bike. I went with the 15th for my front sprocket and 45th for my rear sprockets. I’m 240 pounds and using these sprocket sizes I’m able to max out the bike around 63+ on a straight away, uphill I will go to low 50s. The good thing about these sprockets, they are cheap and its fairly easy to swap them out for testing to see what works best on your hawk 250.

Replacing Swing-Arm Bolt on Hawk 250 and Short Ride After

A week ago I was doing some work on my hawk 250 and I noticed something didn’t look right with bolt holding up the hawk 250 swing-arm. The bolt was missing the bolt head, it looks like it just snapped off while I was riding. See image blow. That is the swing arm bolt for the hawk 250.

Hawk 250 Swing Arm BoltI have no idea how this happened but I might have I tightened the bolt too much and from all the vibrations the hawk 250 makes, it caused the head of the bolt to break off.  I was able to purchase a new bolt with the washers and nut from Ricky Sports RPS website, it was $20 with shipping.

Replacing the swing arm bolt was fairly quick. As I pulled out the old bolt, I pushed the new one in. Took about 3 minutes to swap out.

Hawk 250

It was time to take the hawk 250 dual sport out for a cruise with the old lady to get some food. It was a beautiful sunny day in the Catskills for a ride on a motorcycle. Rock Hill Pizza is good spot for some fresh pizza or sandwiches.

Hawk 250Hawk 250

We both had the spicy chicken cutlet sandwich and then hit the road again on the hawk 250 for a nice ride thru the Catskills.

Some random images of the hawk 250 from today’s ride with the girlfriend.

I think the girlfriend needs some better gear than wearing my large hoodie and a new helmet would be nice

We did spot a owl while riding, the girlfriend noticed it and started screaming and I had no idea what was going on, gave me a scare lol.

We just took random roads to get lost on the hawk 250 and had to make stops for some more photos 🙂 to show off the hawk 250 dual sport bike.

I always make sure to fill up some gas at the end of every ride so she is ready for the next ride.
Hawk 250

I think it’s time for some new tires for my hawk 250. These tires have mostly been riding on the street and they lasted about 2600 miles. I can’t decide on what new tires to get so I might just get the stock hawk 250 tires again. I saw they are $50 each on TheRPS website. I mostly ride street and I think it would be smarter to get a different set of tires but I don’t want to lose the option of hitting up the trails.

Total miles for this ride was almost 50 miles. It was nice to get back on the road, it took about a week and half for me to get the part ordered and delivered to my house.

Hawk 250 Cluster

Total miles on the hawk 250 aftermarket cluster. I had around 1200 miles on the stock hawk 250 cluster. I’m loving the new cluster, it looks so good!

Hawk 250

End of the ride picture, it was a short but relaxing ride. I’m loving the Hawk 250 so far, no major issues, just some bolts and nuts which are easy to replace. Make sure to always go over your bike and do routine maintenance to make sure nothing is missing or broken off. That is how I found the cracked bolt head on my swing arm.

New Hawk 250 RPS Aftermarket Digital Cluster from Matt

Here are some more pictures of the digital hawk 250 cluster that is a exact replacement for the stock cluster. You will just need to do some extra wiring and Matt has provided detailed instructions with the digital cluster and I will also do a mini guide once I have installed mine.

I will also be posting some images and videos once it’s installed so we can see the real beauty in these digital clusters with the cool looking RPM gauge light up and digital hawk cluster ON.

Here is a bad scan I did of the instructions that came with the clusters, I will make better copies and scan it again so if you guys lose the paper, you will have a PDF version.

15 Mile Ride with the Hawk 250 to get Some Milk & Eggs

The old lady woke up this morning and needed her eggs for breakfast. It was a beautiful morning so I jumped on the hawk 250 for a 15 mile round trip to the gas station.

Last time I posted on the blog about getting some milk I didn’t take any pictures. I was too lazy to pull over and take it out of the school bag. This time I pulled over and took some pictures of the hawk 250 RPS dirt bike with the eggs and milk.

It was a great 15 mile ride with the hawk 250 and a great way to wake up and start the morning. I have about 2500 miles on the hawk and it’s still running strong.
