Hawk 250 Feb 2018 Update

What’s up fellow hawk 250 owners. Sorry for being a ghost but work has been super busy and that pays the bills so I been focusing on that.  Last time I had the chance to ride my hawk 250 was back in October.

Couple days ago I decided to make some time for my hawk 250 to change the oil. It’s been sitting for a while. I normally like to change my oil every 300 to 500 miles since it’s cheap to change.

The battery on the hawk was dead like always because I’m lazy to install one of those trickle charges or whatever it’s called lol.

But my hawk 250 loves me and she always starts up with the kickstart, sometimes she turns on quick and sometimes she needs more loving.

I got the oil changed but didn’t really get a chance to ride it. Most of the air from the tires was gone and I wanted to do a full checkup of bolts, wires and screws before doing any riding.

Here are some pictures from that day. Hopefully I will find more free time to update this blog for you guys. Sorry if I don’t get back to everyone on emails, you can always try me on instagram or facebooo.

She is filthy from all the woodworking I have been doing in the garage. She needs a nice wash.

I did have a issue at the end of the summer when my gas tank started leaking at the valve. My jb weld is still going strong.

Two Hawk 250 Owners Cursing 40 Miles Hudson Valley

Here are two short videos from our recent ride. We had the black and blue hawk 250 on the streets pinned to the max for most of the ride. They handled great as always. We just froze our asses off since it was only 40 out and as we got higher in the mountains it just got colder.

I will be uploading more footage from this ride over the next few days.

This is a time lapse video of the two hawk 250 dual sport bikes in action. The video is only about 4minutes. It shows the 40 mile ride to our buddies house who owns the red hawk 250. His baby won’t start right now, we are thinking its the stator and he is waiting to order one

This is a short clip of a dead end we hit with the hawk 250. We hit a seasonal road, which was about 2 miles long, we were tired and cold and I didn’t want to go down being 30 miles from the house. So we had to turn around and found another way home. I have a second hawk that I will be using for situation like these, where I won’t worry about dropping it since it will be just for off-raoding.

Purchased a brand new Chinese Hawk 250, took photos along the way and some videos for those who are thinking of buying one. It’s really not a bad bike for the money. About 4 hour assembly time because no instructions are included. The second build would take less than 2 hours.” by MotoCheez

The second YouTube video that he uploaded was a hawk 250 1000 mile review video.

Well I hit 1000 miles and it’s time for my review! Thanks for all the support. I think the bike will last quite a long time. Running like a top still.” by MotoCheez

Recent YouTube Uploads of My Hawk 250

These are some videos I recently uploaded to my YouTube channel. Thank you for all your support and comments you leave on my website and social media accounts. I started this blog when I got my hawk back in Dec 2015 and I never thought it would get this big and that I would meet so many other hawk 250 owners =).  Email me if you have any questions about my blog or my hawk 250 dual sport bike.

This was a recent ride I did in Feb, it was a nice day and went out for a cruise. I found a seasonal road and it was very slippery with the stock hawk 250 tires and the amount of thread life I have on them but I still went for it, I got up the hill but very slowly lol.

This is another seasonal road by my house that I like ride. This day it was very wet and muddy and again with the stock tires I had issues. I need to save up some money and get a new set of tires soon for my hawk 250.

Some clips from my iPhone of me messing around on my driveway in the snow.

This was from anther ride when I had another hawk rider with me, it was the blue hawk 250. This rider isn’t a fan of riding in the snow, so we had to turn around and I was glad because I wasn’t’ ready to go down lol. We were about 40 miles from my house and I didn’t want to get stuck

75 Mile Dual Sport Ride With Girlfriend around The Catskills

On June 19th 2018, the girlfriend and I went for a nice long ride around the Catskills NY historic towns, we did about 75 miles in about an hour and half of straight riding.

I couldn’t be more happier with my hawk 250 dual sport, the girlfriend and I must have done over 1000 miles of riding together. We haven’t had any real serious issues other than that one time when we got a flat due to one of the spokes cracking and puncturing the tire. I’m coming close to 5000 miles on my bike and no serious issues with the engine or any expensive parts. Only thing I have been replacing is silly stuff I have been breaking like bolts, mirrors, sprocket covers and other small stuff.

Hawk 250 Full 75 Mile Ride With Girl YouTube Video

My hawks battery is still dead and the kickstarter is acting up, so I didn’t shut the hawk off at all during the 75 mile ride and she did great.

I had some issues the day before and it was all due to a loose exhaust header connection, I got lazy with checking the bolts and I learned my lesson. Thanks again to MotoCheez for the quick suggestion.

The video below is only 4 mins, something happened with the rendering of the video. I will re-upload the full raw video for anyone that wants proof of what the hawk can do =), as you will see in the video I think I only stopped at 1 light and a handful of stop signs, it was nothing but riding and mostly in 4th gear doing 45 to 55 with my girl on the back.

Some recent images from my hawk 250. It got a new stator that went bad. They seem to go bad from 3-4K miles. So I would recommend having one ready to go. When the stator got killed during a ride, it also fried my brand new battery. So while I’m waiting for a new battery, I strapped a jump box car starter to the seat and I have been riding that way until I get the new battery

First Motorcycle Ride of 2019 with Girlfriend

It has been a long winter and this winter I didn’t really take the hawk out too much, last winter I did and she started rusting up. This time I kept it in the garage and couple days ago I finally got a new battery and was able to remove my jump box. My girl couldn’t sit on the bike because of the jump box, she wasn’t happy lol.

Hawk 250 RPS

We did about 65 miles of riding around the Catskills. Here is a short video she took from her iPhone, not sure why its so crappy. I think because I uploaded the video from the iphone. I really need to get a GoPro but its not in the budget.

We didn’t really stop at all, just maybe 2 times for some pictures, so it was 65 miles of straight riding, doing anywhere from 45-60mph on the dual sport. That is really good in my opinion for 2 people riding on the hawk 250. My bike is in the 6000 miles now and I haven’t had any serious issues with it. I consider the biggest issue so far was my stator but that was a simple replacement for the hawk. Some pictures from the first hawk 250 ride.

Hawk 250 Aftermarket Exhaust

I would recommend any hawk 250 owner to get this hawk 250 aftermarket exhaust for their bike. When it comes to the hawk 250 any extra power is a good thing and this exhaust sounds much meaner and you will notice a difference right away when you go for your first ride. It was a really quick swap from the stock exhaust to the new aftermarket hawk 250 exhaust. The only issue is that the flange bolt holes on the new exhaust are too small and not aligned the same as the stock hawk 250 exhaust. Using the correct drill bit will make your install much quicker and less painful.

Here are some pictures from my install of the hawk 250 aftermarket exhaust. If you purchase this exhaust for your hawk 250 enduro dirt bike, please post a comment below and let me know how its working for you.  I would also recommend swapping out your hawk 250 carburetor and replacing your jets with a 110 or 115 jet for your hawk 250, click here to read my post on the Mikuni hawk 250 carburetor. If you have over 1000 miles on your hawk 250, then you should also be checking your valves and making sure they are set correctly. You can find a video done by MotoCheez on how to check your valves, I have posted his guide on this website.

Hawk 250 Exhaust
You see below how I got the holes drilled out on the flange that connects to the hawk 250 header. It wasn’t pretty but it got the job done. I’m sure there are better ways to do it. I’m not a mechanic, I just make it happen the best way I can lol.
