Whisper MotoCheez to Rescue

What’s up guys, I feel like a total noob lol. I have been busy the last month doing yard working and building a gazebo for my bday party, which was on June 16th.

During that time my Kia Sportage also had issues with oil leaking ;). The pan rusted and started dripping oil. So during that time I had to use my hawk 250 for supplies and I got lazy at checking stuff.

I noticed about 3 rides back that my bike started sounding really bad and I was thinking the valves or pistons was messed up.

I posted a video last night of the noise and fire coming out of the exhaust.

I sent my buddy motocheez a message and his first guess was the header bolts broke off or loose. This morning I checked and sure enough he was right.

I was so busy working and lazy to check the bike when it was cool. I would only look into the issue after running the bike and then the exhaust was hot and I couldn’t even touch it.

Anyway big shoutout to motocheez, a great guy and nice having him in the hawk community.

Help Compile Hawk 250 Replacement & Aftermarket Parts List

Calling all Hawk 250 dual sport bike owners to help compile a list of all aftermarket parts that we can use on the hawk 250. I will go over the list and setup a database that people can easily search and see what will work on their hawk 250 rps enduro.
hawk 250
I’m going over my comments on the websites and what people are searching for. Below are some stuff people are emailing me about but I haven’t replaced these on my bike yet or I’m looking for different options.

If you guys know a product on amazon or ebay that will fit with the hawk with the list below. Please only list items you have confirmed work on your hawk, I would hate to give people wrong info.

I will try to purchase as many as I can afford for my hawk so I can confirm it all works and post on my blog.

Stuff people are looking for the hawk,

1. Skid Plate
2. Inner Tubes
3. Tail light housing
4. Rims ( it seems buying the stock ones is a pain in the ass, seeing if there are other options)
5. Battery Options
6. Handlebars
7. Front Forks
8. Rear Wheel Shaft
9. Front Brakes
10. Back Brakes.
11. LED Bulb or Kit
12. Sub hub assembly
13. Gas Gauge
14. Rear Caliper
15. Blinkers
16. Hand Grips
17. Levers
18. Back Shock Hawk 250

22. Front Sprocket Cover
23. Key Emission
24. Spark Plug Wire
25. Air Filter
26. Swing Arm Bushings
27. Mirror Bracket
28. Kickstand ( this has been searched like 60 times lol, guess people are losing their kickstands)
29. Chain Options ( I’m using the 428 130Link o-ring chain, I want to see what others will fit)
30. Foot Pegs
31. Brake Lines
32. Bolt Kits ( people have searched the different sizes for the hawks, if anyone has all the MM sizes so I can find some bolt kits)
33. ignition Switches

These are the most searched items on my website. I would really like to gather as much info as I can and add it to the website for people to easily find.

It will be nice to have a list of parts we can quickly order for the hawks. I know it can be a pain to get the stock parts sometimes.

Thanks for your help and input guys. You can leave a comment on this post or you can email me.

Hawk 250 Upgrades

My hawk 250 is around the 4000 mile range and it’s still running strong.  I haven’t had any major issues with it. This bike does require a bit more upkeep so you don’t break down. So I only recommend these bikes to people who like working with their hands and getting them dirty.

Here are some links to the hawk 250 upgrades I did on my bike.

Sunday Funday Crusing Over 200 Miles With Hawk 250 RPS

Today was a long fun day of riding in the Hudson Valley and Catskills NY. We finished up with 215 miles for the day. We started around 9pm and wrapped it up 7pm. The Hawks handed really well in the heat and I’m 250lbs and we cruised most of the time in the 50s to 60mph.

Here are some images from today’s ride.

We went with no food from 9am until we couldn’t take it anymore and stopped by McDonalds at 4pm and went crazy with the food

Black and Blue Hawk 250 Riders

Just sharing some pictures from the last few months. These are when my cousin came over with the blue hawk and we did some riding. Always fun when multiple hawk 250 on the street.
We also did our oil change and I always kill the bolts and somehow snapped the ring on the oil nut. We still went riding for another 50 miles but the oil was dripping more and more. So I went home and took the oil cap from my other hawk 250 so we can keep riding. That’s just one of the days lol.  We usually always find something to break or it breaks due to lack of maintance.

New Hawk 250 Hand Brush Guards

I finally got my new hawk 250 hand brush guards in the mail yesterday and I got the chance to install them today. It was not a quick close your eyes and bolt it install, It did require some thinking to make it fit lol. Each rider might have a different setup with the position of their levers. But even with that I think if you have the patience and willing to put in the work then you can add these in without doing any cutting to the levers or serious fabrication =).

I also had to go to the hardware store to get some longer bolts and get some metal spacers to give me more room between the levers and the new hawk 250 hand brush guards.  You will see the metal spacers in the images shown below. The bolt you will need is a M8 1.25, I forgot the length I got but I think it was like 2 1/2 inches. I would get a few different sizes and see what best fits. You should also get some 1in to 1 1/2in metal spacers. You will see in the images below where I used the metal spacers with the longer bolts.

New Hawk 250 Hand Brush Guards Pictures

hawk 250 hand brush guards

Here is the right side of the new hawk 250 hand brush guards. You can see I have plenty of room but everyones bike will be different depending on how you have your levers setup. I had to move mines in a bit but that is how I prefer it. So you can install these on your bikes, but it will require some trial and error until you get them perfect for your setup.

New Hawk 250 Hand Brush Guards

Here is the left side of the new hawk 250 hand brush guards. You can see I have plenty of room and you can see where I used the metal spacer and the longer M8 1.25 bolt instead of the short one that came with the new hawk 250 hand brush guards.

The bolts that come with this kit will be too short. I sent to Ace Hardware and got some long M8 x 1.25 bolts and I also got some 1inch long M8 spacers to get a nice tight connection. Adding the spacers gives you a lot more room to work with and you shouldn’t need to trim the levers.

For the throttle side you will need to do some cutting. I’m sure there is a different way of doing this but this is how I did it. I found that if you don’t cut out as shown below, then your throttle can get stuck and you don’t want that. When you push in the new hawk 250 hand brush guards in, it will go against the rubber grip. I did some quick trimming and throttle doesn’t get stuck.

hawk 250 hand brush guards

I would also recommend wrapping some black tape, in my case all I had was blue painting tape but it did the job =). I found if you don’t add some more layers then it doesn’t really make a snug connection when pushing it into the bars. Adding some tape, fixed this issue when installing the new hawk 250 hand brush guards.

Where to Buy New Hawk 250 Hand Brush Guards

You can find these new hawk 250 hand brush guards on eBay or Amazon. I have links for both, for Amazon links click here and for eBay links, click here. There are several colors to choose from on the websites. These hand brush guards do require a bit a patience to install and tweaking to fit on your hawk 250, but if you got the patience and willing to put in the time, then you can get these new hawk 250 hand brush guards installed on your hawk, they really look bad ass =).

Hawk 250 Meet DJI Phantom 3 Advanced

I just spent my entire budget on one gadget that I plan to use a lot while out with my hawk 250 dual sport. This bad boy cost me $699, so if anyone wants to help a brother out, the donation button is below =). I appreciate all the support I have been getting for running this website and keeping up with the videos and info on the hawk 250 dual sport. I enjoy doing this and you guys are making it possible for me to do this, thank you again for the feedback.DJI Phantom 3 Advanced

One Time Payment

I think this will get me some great footage of the hawk 250 dual sport in the wild. I have some very beautiful scenic routes in the Catskills NY area and the drone and hawk 250 will come out to play. I also have several friends with the hawk 250 bikes and that will make for some nice looking videos with this amazing phantom 3 advance drone I just picked up. It was way out of my budget but its something I wanted for a long time and I didn’t want to start with something cheap.

I got the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced drone from newegg. It was on sale for $699 with free shipping and I should have it here in about a week. I will do a unboxing video of it and then do learn how to fly it. Then get some great video of the hawk 250.

Here are some pictures of the Phantom 3 Advanced drone package I got.  I will take my own pictures once I get it. Check my new website out NTek Drones

Hawk 250 Rim Swap and Ride with Girlfriend

The tires on my main street hawk 250 bike were done and I really wanted to ride but I’m not sure which new tires to go with for my hawk 250 dual sport. I have a second hawk 250 that is mostly for off-roading only and not registered. So I took the rim from my off-road hawk 250 and put it on my street hawk 250. It was a quick swap and then the girlfriend and I went for a short 50 mile ride to test everything out.

First I removed the front hawk 250 rim from my street hawk. This hawk 250 came with black rims which I prefer over the first hawks rims.

Hawk 250

This is the color rim that the first set of hawk 250s came out with. Make sure to check those bolts on the front break rotor and add some loctite and make sure that clamps are pushed against the head of the bolt to prevent vibration from loosening them up.

Hawk 250

My first hawk 250, mostly for off-roading because its not registered.

Hawk 250

Quick rim swap and I’m ready for the road.

Hawk 250

If your stock cluster stopped working or isn’t accurate, make sure to check the speedometer speed sensor, mine was pretty much stuck. I took it apart, cleaned it up, greased it and its like brand new. I didn’t get a chance to test it because the hawk 250 off-road edition isn’t ready for the road, it needs some new parts.

Hawk 250

That same day my hawk 250 stickers came in and they are pretty cool. The quality from Zazzle is pretty good. You can find these on my hawk 250 fan shop.

Hawk 250

Bek stopped by to watch me do some work on the hawk 250 and learn something haha. Then we had a nice BBQ with some cheeseburgers and and spicy chicken wings.

Grilling

Just messing around with the hawk 250 on my property, I can have a nice trail here once I find the time to clean out this land of mine.

Hawk 250

Hawk 250

After changing the tire and taking some pictures of the hawk 250 around my house the girl and I jumped on the hawk for a cruise.  Our first stop was the Stone Church in Ellenville, NY, but they were having a weeding and the hawk 250 didn’t get a invite.

We then went to a farm we usually drive by to see some horses, camels, donkey’s, you name it, they have it.

Hawk 250

Next we ended up by the new Montreign casino being built in the Catskills. Its going up pretty quick and this thing is going to be huge. Can’t wait to come by with the hawk 250 when its open.

Hawk 250 Dual Sport

Next stop was the Kiamesha lake in Monticello NY and a perfect spot to take a picture of my hawk 250 bike. This hawk 250 has taken us all around the Catskills and Hudson Valley. This was one of my best purchases of this year and we got a lot of use out of it. I couldn’t afford a real dual sport bike and this was a perfect fit for my budget, starting at $1399.

Black Hawk 250

Some pictures the girlfriend took while riding on the back of the hawk 250. We enjoy taking out the hawk 250 whenever we can and there is so much scenic riding to be done around us and the great thing is you barely ever see any cars.

I had a few emails if you can preorder hawk dlx to make sure you can get one when its released. I’m not sure how many they are releasing at launch but it could be hard to get one due to the hawk 250 popularity.

HAWK DLX DISCOUNT CODE = hawkdlx2

I emailed TxPowerSports and they told me you can PRE-Order the hawk 250 DLX model, they don’t have a exact relase date at this point but they are saying Mid June, Early July from the last update.

PreOrder Hawk DLX

I plan on getting the new hawk, but right now I can’t afford it and can’t really add on more monthly payments haha. So I’m hoping I can get one soon after its released so I can start comparing the two different hawk models and let you guys know which one is better. The new hawk is a EFI model and that could be a good or a bad thing, more electronics to worry about, I prefer a carb but I’m excited to try the new model.

If you are ready to pre-order the hawk and make sure you are the first one to get the dual sport motorcycle, then click here and enter the coupon code hawkdlx2 at checkout for a discount code and to lock in your order. You also get some extra freebies with your order, make sure to select the gifts you want on the checkout page.

Hawk 250 DLX Financing Options

TxPowerSports offers multiple options to pay for your new motorcycle. You can pay using Paypal, Paypal Credit, Amazon Pay, Credit Card and Affirm.

If you have no credit or bad credit, then I would recommend trying Affirm, You can get payments as low as $60 and no fees if you pay the hawk off earlier. I used this method for my first purchase back in 2015.

Hawk 250 Mikuni Carburetor and Jets

If your hawk 250 isn’t running correctly, chances are the stock hawk 250 carburetor is not tuned correctly or using the wrong jets. I have worked on 4 different hawk 250 dual sport bikes so far and all of them had the same issue, not tuned or running the wrong jets. The hawk 250 manufactures have the adjustment screws and the screws to remove the carb cover sealed with plastic coating so you can’t take them out.  My first hawk 250 bike I was able to remove the tamper proof screws they have but it does require some tools to be able to get the cover open. If you would like to mess with the stock hawk 250 carb, I have the images posted at the bottom of this blog post.

Hawk 250

I purchased my hawk 250 mikuni carburetor and jets from amazon. If you would like to purchase this carb, you can click on the images below (links will open in new window) for the carb and jets. My affiliate link is setup with the links below and if you use my link to purchase the carb, I will get a small commission from amazon and it all goes back towards my hawk 250 and keeping this website going.  If you need any help with replacing the carb, please email me and I will do my best to guide you with any issues you are having. I’m not a motorcycle or a auto mechanic but I know my way around the toolbox and how to get stuff done.

The jet size that I’m currently using is a 115 but I recommend getting the package below that has different carb jet sizes so you can quickly switch them out for testing them in your location.

I would also highly recommend swapping out the stock hawk 250 exhaust with the new hawk 250 aftermarket exhaust. Its fairly priced for what you get and the minute you swap out the hawk 250 stock exhaust with the new aftermarket one, you will notice a difference. You can read my post on the hawk 250 exhaust by clicking here.

Here are some pictures if you are looking to modify your stock hawk 250 carburetor, in my opinion the hawk 250 Mikuni carb is easier to work on and its not that expensive to get for your hawk. If you have any questions about the stock hawk 250 carb or the Mikuni one, please contact me and I will get back to you asap.

Hawk 250 – 100 Mile Bike Ride with Girlfriend

It was a beautiful sunny day in the Catskills and the girlfriend and I decided to go on a nice journey and see how far we can get. At the end of the ride we did over 100 miles on the hawk 250 dual sport and it was a great ride, its really conferrable to me and I can ride on the hawk 250 all day long. I did some recording and will be posting some short YouTube clips soon with the hawk 250 in action.

Our first stop was just off route 52 in Ellenville, NY.  This is just before the Sam’s Point hiking trails and I would recommend doing the hiking trails in winter for the ice caves.
Hawk 250

Such a great view from up here. No matter what time you come, its always amazing. Plus the hawk 250 looks really good in the background =).Hawk 250 Black Hawk 250

I was a bit hungry, so I got myself 2 hotdogs and in about 2 seconds they were gone and we were back on the rode with the hawk 250.

Hawk 250 Dual Sport

Next stop on the hawk 250 adventures was to the Rondout Reservoir near the southern end of Catskill Park, split between the towns of Wawarsing in Ulster County and Neversink in Sullivan County. We rode thru Ellenville and then jumped on Route 55a and did a lap around the reservoir which was an amazing ride with the hawk 250.

We tried fishing here in the summer but we came when it was so hot and definitely the wrong time for fishing and had no luck catching anything, we went home hungry for some fish.Hawk 250 Dual Sport

Hawk 250 Riding

It was a great day of riding, we did over 100 miles on the hawk and it was pretty much non-stop riding. We had to stop for a few pictures here and there. The hawk 250 did well with 2 people on the bike, going uphills it would do 40-45 and there were some steep hills and the hawk got us right up there. I also had my Go-fro camera recording some of the footage and I will be posting that on YouTube over the next few days.

Thank you for reading this post and please comment below if you are a hawk 250 owner, I love meeting new owners of this Chinese bike and how they are doing with them so far.
